BASELINE × Tencent: A Deep Technical Partnership for Chinese GEO

We maintain a deep technical partnership with Tencent — Tencent provides GEO expert support, the underlying technology of our engine-behavior benchmark platform involves Tencent's engineering team, and the product and assessment system are built in-house by BASELINE.

Strategic technology partner.

Today we want to formally introduce one of BASELINE’s deep technical partners — Tencent. From refining methodology to the underlying technology of our benchmark platform, Tencent is closely involved.

Why a technical partnership

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is a very new field. Measuring a brand’s real visibility inside AI engines accurately requires two things at once: methodological rigor — how to define the lens, split the dimensions, decide what counts as deterministic and what may never enter an outward report; and engineering strength — stable evidence capture across six Chinese engines, large-scale evidence chains, and reproducible benchmark computation.

Those two are exactly where this partnership sits. It isn’t a brand co-marketing exercise — it’s technical collaboration at the foundation.

“This isn’t brand co-marketing — it’s technical collaboration at the foundation, pairing methodological rigor with engineering strength.”

Three layers of the partnership

1. GEO expert support

Tencent provides technical experts in GEO who help refine our methods and definitions — from the boundaries of the five-dimension score, to the category / brand / competitor query separation, to the discipline that public reports use raw counts and never small-sample percentages. The expert lens makes the methodology hold up better under scrutiny.

2. Benchmark platform support

The underlying technology of our engine-behavior benchmark platform (brand-agnostic — a standard query set that measures each engine’s response rate, citation rate, and source diversity) involves Tencent’s engineering team. That makes the benchmark’s capture steadier and its computation more reproducible — and reproducibility is the whole premise of a “benchmark.”

3. The product and assessment system are built by BASELINE

To be clear: BASELINE’s assessment system and product are developed in-house. The four subsystems (recall, site audit, citation weights, engine benchmark), the five-dimension score, and the traceability quality gate are BASELINE’s own engineering. Tencent supports us as a deep technical partner — in expertise and underlying technology.

“Tencent supports us deeply in expertise and underlying technology, while BASELINE’s assessment system and product are built entirely in-house.”

What it means for clients

  • A more rigorous method. Lenses and dimensions refined through an expert perspective; conclusions that hold up.
  • A steadier benchmark. With Tencent’s engineering team involved in the platform’s foundation, capture and computation are more reliable and reproducible.
  • The same rules, unchanged. No matter who is involved, BASELINE’s line stays the same: deterministic, raw counts, traceable — conclusions you, your legal team, and your competitors can re-check, again and again.

We believe Chinese GEO deserves a trustworthy baseline. Our deep technical partnership with Tencent brings that goal one step closer.

“Chinese GEO deserves a trustworthy baseline — and no matter who is involved, the line stays the same: deterministic, raw counts, traceable.”
